HOME TEAM: Denver Nuggets (22-15, 9-7 at home)

Projected Starting Five:

  • PG: Jamal Murray
  • PG: Monte Morris
  • SF: Will Barton
  • SF: Michael Porter Jr.
  • C: Nikola Jokic

Denver ended a five-game road swing with a 103-102 win over the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday. The Nuggets have gone undefeated during that stretch and will return home with a 6-1 record over their last seven games.

Nikola Jokic added to his MVP resume by putting up 28 points, 15 rebounds, and seven assists in 36 minutes. Jokic could have his way again this Sunday against Dallas even with Porzingis back in action this time around. Jokic is averaging 27.2 points per game on 56.8 FG% and 41.9 3FG%. He’s also dishing out 8.5 assists per contest, and that passing ability is what’s making him extra dangerous on offense, as he can easily locate

Denver’s shooters. On the season, Denver is averaging 13.3 made 3-pointers on 38.6% accuracy — fifth overall in the NBA, as of this writing. Denver has covered the spread in its last four games overall.

ROAD TEAM: Dallas Mavericks (19-17, 9-9 on the road)

Projected Starting Five:

  • PG: Luka Doncic
  • SG: Josh Richardson
  • PF: Dorian Finney-Smith
  • PF: Maxi Kleber
  • C: Kristaps Porzingis

The Mavericks saw their four-game win streak come to an end on Saturday, as they were dealt with a 116-108 loss by the Oklahoma City Thunder at home. That’s not entirely surprising, though, as the Mavs did not have Luka Doncic and Kristaps

Porzingis on the floor for various health reasons. There’s nothing seriously wrong with the two. It’s just that Dallas likely opted to rest those two on the front end of a back-to-back against a lottery-bound team. This Sunday, expect Doncic and Porzingis to return to action, as the Mavs try to go 2-0 straight up this season against Denver.

The Mavericks defeated Denver on the road back in January, 124-117, without Porzingis, who was still recovering from an injury at that time. It didn’t seem like the Mavs needed him, though, as Doncic exploded for 38 points. Dallas is 24-11-2 in its last 37 Sunday (Manila) games.

PREDICTIONS:

Spread:

Doncic and Jokic are likely going to cancel each other out on offense. Then again, Doncic won’t have to contend with the injured Gary Harris, while Jokic will now be dealing with Porzingis. We’re taking the Nuggets in this game on the moneyline, but Dallas will cover the +3.

Over/Under:

Dallas and Denver are both in the bottom 11 of PACE, so we like the UNDER 220 here.
