The Dallas Mavericks continue their road trip this weekend, seeking a win to prevent a three-game slide. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers want to keep their win streak going and add Dallas to their growing list of victims this season.

Away: Dallas Mavericks (5-14, 1-4 Away)

Projected Starting Five:

  • Brandon Williams
  • Cooper Flagg
  • P.J. Washington
  • Anthony Davis (Questionable)
  • Daniel Gafford

The Mavericks have yet to win back-to-back games this season. They are also on the verge of losing a third game in a row. Dallas is coming off losses to the Memphis Grizzlies (102-96) at home on Sunday and to the Miami Heat (106-92) on the road on Tuesday. Offense has been hard to come by for Dallas, which traded one of the best scorers in the history of the NBA before he could even hit his peak in the league last February.

On the season, the Mavericks are 29th in the NBA with just 109.5 points per outing. And despite being second overall with 57.3 rebounds per game, the Mavs aren’t necessarily winning the possession battle, as Dallas is taking just 87.9 field goal attempts per contest – just 23rd in the league. But help could be on the way for the Mavericks, with Anthony Davis listed as questionable to play against his former team after missing the last 14 Dallas games.

Home: Los Angeles Lakers (13-4, 5-2 Home)

Projected Starting Five:

  • Luka Doncic
  • Austin Reaves
  • Rui Hachimura
  • LeBron James
  • Deandre Ayton (DTD)

The Lakers have the Purple & Gold nation hyped. Between the return of LeBron to action and their five-game win streak, the Lakers have things going for them lately. Los Angeles’ lethal attack was on full display in its 135-118 demolition of the LA Clippers at home on Wednesday, with Doncic unleashing 43 points on 14/28 shooting from the field and 7/12 from deep.

On top of that, he had 13 assists, while Austin Reaves and LeBron had 31 and 25 points, respectively. The Mavericks don’t have any three-player configuration right now that can match the firepower and playmaking of that Lakers triumvirate. Doncic may also have more in store this Saturday, considering that he’s up against his former team again. Nico Harrison has already been let go by Dallas, but the same ownership that oversaw Doncic’s painful exit from the franchise remains, and that could be enough for the Slovenian to draw the energy he needs to punish the Mavs.
