Away: Las Vegas Aces (14-5, 9-2 Away)

Projected Starting Five:

  • Chelsea Gray
  • Stephanie Talbot
  • Jackie Young
  • NaLyssa Smith
  • A’ja Wilson (out)

The Aces were not going to get denied a win on Monday, as they are now on a two-game winning streak. Behind a bonkers performance from A’ja Wilson, Las Vegas notched a 107-99 win on the road over the Chicago Sky. The four-time WNBA Most Valuable Player Wilson put up a historic stat line of 30 points, 15 rebounds, four steals and three blocks, becoming just the first player ever in the league to have at least 30-15-4-3 in a game.

Wilson, however, is unfortunately out with an injury. Las Vegas lost to the Liberty at home last week, 87-76. Still, the Aces are tops in the league with a 111.3 offensive efficiency, albeit only a middling seventh overall with a defensive 50.2  eFG%.

Home: New York Liberty (12-8, 6-4 Home)

Projected Starting Five:

  • Sabrina Ionescu
  • Pauline Astier
  • Betnijah Laney-Hamilton
  • Leonie Fiebich
  • Jonquel Jones

The aforementioned win by the Liberty over Las Vegas is still their most recent one. Since then, New York hast lost two in a row, including Wednesday’s 76-67 defeat at the hands of the Golden State Valkyries on the road. But now, the Liberty are coming home after a four-game road trip, a welcome development amid a skid. Part of the reason of New York’s struggles this season is the subpar showing of star guard Sabrina Ionescu.

In the seven games she’s played so far, she’s averaged only 9.5 points on only 34.6 percent shooting from the floor. Ionescu seems to still be finding her form after missing the first two weeks of the seasin with a left foot injury. She also dealt with a back issue that forced her to miss games.

That said, she had 16 points and 10 boards in the previous meeting to the Aces. Never count out Ionescu to ma on 12/24 shooting in that same outing for the Liberty, who are second in the league with a 80.0 defensive effiiency.
