LeBron James, along with the rest of the Lakers and Clippers, want to walk away from the playoffs.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, all of the other playoff teams voted to keep playing.

This is the latest symptom of the developing situation that has gripped not just the NBA, but the USA as a whole. As you may remember, Kyrie Irving and a group of other NBA players also voiced out a desire not to continue with the NBA season.

At the heart of the issue is the racial injustice that has been suffered by many in the African American community. Nationwide protests were kicked off after the death of George Floyd at the hands of a police officer. The latest widespread scandal, a man named Jacob Blake being shot in the back by police officers, is what set off the events that led to the postponement of playoff games and the looming threat of an abrupt end to the season.

If James and other players want owners to take action, the question becomes: what will suffice as enough?

It’s currently a heated and emotional time amongst NBA players, many of whom grew up in communities that experienced the kind of police brutality that is now being exposed thanks to the internet and social media.

Not only that, some current NBA players, like Sterling Brown of the Milwaukee Bucks, have been exposed to mistreatment by police.

Do you think there will be a way for the owners and players to come to a middle ground? Will Adam Silver and the NBA owners have some sort of reaction to the latest developments?
