Well, fight fans are finally going to get one of the matchups that they’ve been dreaming about.

Jorge Masvidal will be fighting Kamaru Usman this coming weekend for the UFC welterweight title.

This is an extremely exciting fight, pitting the BMF belt holder against the Nigerian Nightmare in what should be an interesting main event.

Usman’s original opponent, Gilbert Burns, unfortunately tested positive for COVID-19 a few days ago. That led to their fight being cancelled and the need for someone to come help save the main event.

While the news of Masvidal’s entry into the event is certainly exciting, it does come with a number of questions.

First is how Masvidal will be affected by not having a training camp. Usman is an elite athlete who has cardio for days and poses problems for Masvidal thanks to his strong wrestling skills.

The champ, on the other hand, also faces an interesting test. Should Masvidal show up and be in great shape, he’ll be looking to keep things on the feet to take advantage of his devastating striking abilities.

Considering that Colby Covington was able to do damage on the feet against him in the past, there’s no way that Usman’s team will want him to try and trade blows.

This fight is certainly compelling, though, and I can’t wait to watch it.
