A battle of the titans is set to happen on February 19 as the star-studded Brooklyn Nets take on the defending champs Lakers in a highly anticipated match-up.
Both teams are undoubtedly the two of the best teams in the league and are heavy favorites for fans and critics to be the last two teams battling for the NBA title.
Both teams have been undoubtedly impressive this season.
The Nets, since acquiring James Harden via four-team trade last months, look like a team that will go down as one of the most dominant offenses in league history.
Brooklyn currently leads the league in scoring as they average 121.4 points per game. They’re also the fourth in assists as they average 27.1 assists per game and 14th in rebounding with 44.1.
Kevin Durant is the team leader in points and rebounds with 29.0 points per game and 7.3 rebounds per game along with 43.4% shooting from the three-point line.
Kyrie Irving is proving to be the second-best scorer of the team with 27.6 points, 5.8 assists and 4.6 rebounds while shooting 52.5% shooting from the field. Harden accepted the role of point guard, but he’s still averaging 23.9 points, 7.3 rebounds, 11.3 assists, 1.1 steals while shooting 47.2% from the field and 38.0% shooting from deep.
In their most recent games, the Nets led by Harden came back from a 24-point lead deficit and took a 128-124 win. Harden was the lone star and finished the game with 38 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds.
Brooklyn missed out on the services of Irving and Durant as both men are recovering from injuries.
The Lakers on the other hand are looking like a team that’s primed for a back-to-back title run.
LeBron James is putting up his usual numbers of 25.7 points, 8.2 rebounds and 7.9 assists while Anthony Davis, who’s only played 23 games this season is averaging 22.5 points in 53.3% shooting from the field along with 8.4 rebounds.
Dennis Schröder is contributing 14.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 4.3 assists while Montrezl Harrel is averaging 13.3 points and 6.3 rebounds. Kyle Kuzma is producing 10.8 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.
In their recent game, the best team in Los Angeles got back on the winning track by beating the up-and-coming Minnesota squad, 112-104. With the King from Akron putting up 30 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists. Schröder had 24 points and four steals while Harrell had 17 points and six rebounds off the bench.
Now, the two squads are set to meet in a highly anticipated game. However, injuries will prevent the game from reaching its full entertainment potential.
Brooklyn won’t have Durant due to a hamstring strain that forced him to miss out two games, but it’s likely that Irving will return to the line-up.
The Lakers will play without Davis who has Achilles tendinosis and a calf strain.

Even with the missing stars, and game that involves James, Irving, and Harden will still have plenty of explosive moments.
The Nets are the best offensive team in the league, leading the NBA in scoring with 121.7 points per game and an offensive rating of 117.9.
However, the Lakers, despite not having Davis are still the best defensive squad in the NBA, leading the league in defense with a 105.2 rating.
It will be a battle between an unstoppable force against an immovable object, and we’ll all be looking forward to seeing it happen.
