The TNT Tropang Giga and the Blackwater Bossing will square off this Sunday on the last day of play in the PBA on Tour. Will TNT get that second win before bowing out? Or, will the Bossing humble the usually mighty TNT?
Catch this game live on Sunday, July 30 at 5:00 pm, Manila time.
TNT Tropang Giga (1-9)
Projected Starting Five:
- PG: JD Tungcab
- SG: Paul Varilla
- SF: Carl Bryan Cruz
- PF: Glenn Khobuntin
- C: Dave Marcelo
The Tropang Giga just want a win to close out their PBA on Tour schedule. It’s been a struggle for TNT to win all campaign long. In their last game, the Tropang Giga fell prey to the NLEX Road Warriors on Wednesday, 97-84. TNT actually started that contest like a house on fire, as it led the Road Warriors by 20 points by the end of the first period. Unfortunately for the Tropang Giga, they couldn’t sustain that form, as they got outscored in each of the final three quarters.
But as always, Glenn Khobuntin had a solid individual showing for the Tropang Giga. Khobuntin had 24 points with 10 rebounds and two assists versus NLEX. He has been the most consistent performer of TNT in the PBA on Tour, as he is averaging 24.0 points on 45 FG%. It was Carl Cruz, though, who paced TNT in the NLEX game, dropping 26 points with seven 3-pointers. Outside shooting is one of the few strong suits of TNT, as it is third in the league with 11.8 threes per contest.
Blackwater Bossing (6-4)
Projected Starting Five:
- PG: JVee Casio
- SG: Rey Suerte
- SF: Rashawn Mccarthy
- PF: James Sena
- C: Troy Rosario
The Bossing failed to pass the test of the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters last Sunday, as they lost to Yeng Guiao’s squad, 131-108. Rain or Shine was simply too strong and too much for Blackwater. It should be a different story this Sunday for Blackwater though, as the Bossing will be facing the worst team in the PBA on Tour in the form of the one-win TNT side.
Troy Rosario has the potential for a big revenge game. Rosario, who played the majority of his PBA career with TNT, scored 15 points and grabbed six rebounds against Rain or Shine. He is leading the Bossing with 16.75 points per game to go with an average of 6.4 rebounds per contest. Another big Bossing threat to TNT is Renato Ular, who just had a double-double of 14 points and 11 boards versus the Elasto Painters.
PREDICTION:
Spread: Blackwater (-7.5) covers the spread.
Over/Under: The total (185.0) hits the Over.
