Sometimes you just have to stand in awe when you watch Luka Doncic play. His full bag of tricks was on display again today against the Golden State Warriors, who came to Dallas looking for just their third away win of the season.

The Slovenian floor general didn’t want to oblige the Warriors, though, as he led the Dallas Mavericks to a thrilling 116-113 victory. Doncic’s 41 points, 12 rebounds, 12 assists, four steals, and a block was just enough to carry his team to victory, and he did it in style.

This latest masterful performance added another milestone to Doncic’s young career, as he has now tied Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki’s record for 40-point games with 20.

That’s a pretty good achievement, considering that Nowitzki wore the Mavericks jersey for 20 years before hanging his sneakers up at the dawn of the Luka era. To top things off, Doncic is also eyeing another record set by Oscar Robertson.

It’s hard to believe that Doncic is just 24-year-old sometimes, especially with how he dominates the NBA. His coming out party in last year’s Western Conference Semifinals looks like no fluke, but it’s worth noting that this season will be a tight race to the postseason. The Mavericks are currently in 10th place, and every win matters. Doncic will need to continue playing at this level for the whole season if the Mavericks want to try to make the Conference Finals again.
