They call her the queen of “mebounds,” but they can also refer to Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese as an NBA 2K26 cover hooper.
Reese got the nod as the cover for the video game’s WNBA Edition, while Oklahoma City Thunder and reigning NBA Most Valuable Player Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and former NBA superstar Carmelo Anthony grace the covers for the Standard Edition and Superstar Edition, respectively.
“Being on the cover of NBA 2K26 and debuting my first-ever signature shoe with Reebok on that cover, the Angel Reese 1, is more than a milestone—it’s a statement,” the former LSU Tigers star shared in a statement.
“It’s about representation and showing young girls they can be confident, bold, and take up space unapologetically. To be cemented in NBA 2K history is a special honor that reflects not only my journey, but also all the veteran WNBA players who have paved the way before me and the growing impact of the league as a whole. I’m proud to be part of a game that continues to elevate women’s basketball and can’t wait for fans to see how NBA 2K26 brings our game to life like never before.”
There are not a few fans who are left wondering why Reese was chosen among all WNBA players to be on the cover. For one, Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark still exists, and she’s widely credited as the reason for the surge in popularity of the league and women’s hoops in general.
On top of being an NBA 2K26 cover athlete, Reese also had a big performance on Thursday against Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings. Reese gobbled up yet anothe double-double, with 15 points and 11 rebounds (zero offensive) while shooting 6-for-19 from the field in 30 minutes of an 87-76 win at Wintrust Arena in Windy City. That’s Reese’s seventh double-double in a row, the longest active such streak.
For what it’s worth, Clark didn’t have as big of a day on the court. Returning from a five-game absence due to a groin injury, the former Iowa Hawkeyes star mustered only 10 points on a 4-for-12 shooting in a 74-59 loss at home against the Golden State Valkyries.
