This week belonged to the young guns. Rising talent across the league put up star-caliber numbers, proving they’re not just the future – they’re already shaping the now.
Cooper Flagg — 35 pts, 8 reb (Nov 30 vs LAC)
Cooper Flagg continues to be the lone bright spot in Dallas’ rocky season, and this one was special. At just 18 years and 343 days old, he became the youngest player in NBA history to drop 35+. He piled on the struggling Clippers, showing why he’s already a franchise cornerstone.
Zach Edey — 32 pts, 17 reb, 5 blk (Dec 1 vs SAC)
After dealing with wave after wave of injuries, this had to feel cathartic for Zach Edey. He absolutely devoured the Kings on both ends, putting up monster numbers that reminded everyone just how dominant he can be. A major positive in Memphis’ very murky direction.
Jalen Johnson — 41 pts, 14 reb, 7 ast (Dec 1 vs PHI)
What a complete, superstar-level outing from Jalen Johnson. With Trae Young sidelined, the door has swung wide open — and Johnson is barging through it. He looked every bit like a future perennial All-Star, continuing the surge he began last season.
Payton Pritchard — 42 pts, 6 threes (Dec 1 vs CLE)
Fresh off a terrible outing, Payton Pritchard delivered the best game of his career. His 42 points set a new personal high, and the confidence was flowing. Once an energy spark off the bench, the reigning Sixth Man of the Year is proving there’s even more growth left in his game.
Reed Sheppard — 31 pts, 9 reb, 5 ast (Nov 27 vs GSW)
With Kevin Durant out, Reed Sheppard stepped up in a huge way — and outplayed Stephen Curry in the process. For a second-year guard and first-year starter, that’s massive. Houston wanted internal development, and Sheppard is answering the call.
