Today’s battle between eStar (1.47) and Team WE (2.29) saw the fourth and ninth place teams take each other on, with Team WE desperately trying to get points to catch up to OMG, who are three points ahead of them.

OMG’s comprehensive 2-0 loss against LGD gaming earlier in the day gave Team WE the chance to tie in points. eStar were also on a three game losing streak, so Team WE would have liked their chances for an upset. The odds weren’t so far apart either at 1.47 against 2.29 in favor of eStar.

Game 1:

eStar: Xiaobai (Wukong), Wei (Trundle), Cryin (Leblanc), Wink (Varus), ShiauC (Taric)

Team WE: Morgan (Mordekaiser), beishang (Graves), Teacherma (Rumble), JiuMeng (Kalista), Missing (Sett)

Estar played a high-level game in a huge rout of Team WE in the first round. By the 30th minute, they had won the game with a 29-13 kill lead and an 11.5K gold lead.  They took advantage of a fight at the dragon midway through the game and it only continued to snowball from there.

Cryin led the damage by far with 28.3K damage and finished with an insane 14/1/11. Xiaobai also had a strong game, finishing 8/2/17. ShiauC led in assists with a 1/4/22 record.

Game 2:

eStar: Xiaobai (Sett), Wei (Trundle), Cryin (Kassadin), Wink (Varus), ShiauC (Taric)

Team WE: Morgan (Wukong), beishang (Elise), Teacherma (Rumble), JiuMeng (Kalista), Missing (Janna)

eStar were riding high into game 2 after their dominant performance, and Team WE looked like they would need to dive deep into their bag of tricks to force game 3 and keep their playoff hopes alive.

Team WE tried to flip the script by picking Wukong. They were unsuccessful in the first proper fight of the game, with Wei taking first blood by taking down Teacherma.

Teacherma got himself ganked in the mid lane not long after, and Morgan found himself down. Team WE then looked to dive, and got eStar to overcommit as Xiaobai, Wei, and Cryin to overextend. After that sequence, it was a 4-3 kill lead for eStar. Team WE then took down the first dragon shortly after.

A big fight broke out at the herald in the eighth minute, but eStar were only able to take out Morgan. However, they took down the T1 mid turret quickly for a 5-3 kill lead and a 2.5K gold lead.

eStar picked up the dragon in the 11th minute. Cryin didn’t have a lot of contests in the bottom lane, allowing him to farm freely, letting him build up to become the late game carry. He had almost 7K gold by the 15th minute.

eStar also took down the top lane T1 turret in the 15th minute and it looked like they had complete control of the tempo of the game. They followed that up by getting another herald and building their gold lead to 4K.

A big fight broke out in the 16th minute that saw Team WE get deleted. Cryin’s Kassadin was simply unstoppable as they pushed further into the Team WE base as they took a 10-3 kill lead and 7K gold lead.

It looked to be all but over less than 20 minutes into the game.

Cryin did get himself killed in the 20th minute after carelessly finding himself in a 3v1 situation, but that only reduced eStar’s kill lead to 11-4 and gold lead to 7K.

eStar started the baron in the 22nd minute, and Team WE went in for their fight, and again found themselves deleted, effectively ending the game. At 16-4 and ahead 12K gold, there wasn’t really a way back.

The final push in the 25th minute saw Cryin get his third triple kill and that was all she wrote. eStar snapped their loss streak and pushed themselves further back up the LPL table. They finished with a 21-5 kill lead and 15.5K gold lead.

For Team WE, the playoffs look to be effectively out of reach. They’re going to need some luck and some losses from their mid-table rivals, plus they will also need to defeat OMG on Monday to keep their hopes alive.

Cryin was again the undisputed MVP, with a phenomenal 13/2/7 performance and he did 46.5% of his team’s damage.
